The Durrës Court has sentenced Hysen Meta to life imprisonment, accused of murdering his father, Pëllumb Meta, and then burying his body. This is about the serious incident of Shënavlash in Durrës, which was discovered on February 10, 2024.

His sister, Hygerta Meta, was sentenced to 8 years in prison, out of the 30 years the prosecution had requested, while his brother, Amarildo Meta, was sentenced to 5 years in prison. The mother of the three children, or the victim's wife, Blerina Meta, was sentenced to 3 years in prison. Only Amarildo Meta was present in the courtroom.

From the investigations conducted by the Durproven Prosecution, it was proven that Hysen and Hygerta Meta, brother and sister, planned and killed their father Pëllumb Meta.

The late Pëllumb Meta was killed on the afternoon of February 12, 2024 after returning from work. In the kitchen of his apartment, he was shot by his son Hysen Meta, where his daughter Hygerta Meta was also present. The son shot him 4 times, but was hit by 3 bullets, 1 in the head and 2 in the body, causing his immediate death. After killing their father, the sister and brother hid the crime by destroying the evidence and burying their father's corpse.

They patched up the hole in the wall where one of the bullets had ended up, and moved the sofa on which the victim had been lying.

They then wrapped the father's body, buried it in the cattle shed which was located a few meters away from the apartment and then proceeded to remove the vehicle from the apartment, remove the victim's personal belongings and remove the murder weapon. The other brother Amarildo and their mother Blerina were also involved in hiding the body and evidence.

After destroying all the evidence, the son Hysen Meta went to the Durrës Police and filed a report claiming that their father had left the apartment. But the contradictory and unreliable statements at the time made the Durrës police investigation team suspect that Pëllumb Meta had actually disappeared from the apartment. After the crime was solved and the children were arrested, during the trial, the daughter Hygerta Meta stated that her father was killed by her brother Hyseni.

Durrës Court Decision:

DECIDED:

1. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant Hy.M. for committing the criminal offense of "Murder due to family relations", provided for by Article 79/c of ​​the Criminal Code, and his sentence to life imprisonment.

2. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant Hy.M. for committing the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", provided for by Article 278/4 of the Criminal Code, and his sentence to 3 (three) years of imprisonment.

3. Dismissal of the charge against the defendant Hy.M. for committing the criminal offense "Hiding and destroying a corpse", committed in collaboration, provided for by Articles 303 and 25 of the Criminal Code.

4. Pursuant to Article 55 of the Criminal Code, in consolidating sentences, the conviction of the defendant Hy.M. with a single sentence of life imprisonment.

5. The guilty declaration of the defendant Hyg.M. for committing the criminal offense "Actions that impede the discovery of the truth" provided for by Article 301 of the Criminal Code, and her sentence to 3 (three) years of imprisonment.

6. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant Hyg.M. for committing the criminal offense of "Hiding and Disposing of a Corpse", committed in collaboration, as provided for by Articles 303 and 25 of the Criminal Code, and her sentence to 5 (five) years of imprisonment.

7. Pursuant to Article 55 of the Criminal Code, in concurrence of sentences, the sentence of the defendant Hyg.M. with a single sentence of 8 (eight) years of imprisonment.

8. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant AM for committing the criminal offense of "Hiding and Disposing of a Corpse", committed in collaboration, as provided for by Articles 303 and 25 of the Criminal Code, and his sentence to 5 (five) years of imprisonment.

9. The guilty plea of ​​the defendant BM for committing the criminal offense of "Actions that impede the discovery of the truth", provided for by Article 301 of the Criminal Code, and her sentence to 3 (three) years of imprisonment.

10. The defendant Hy.M. shall serve his sentence in a high-security prison, while the defendants Hyg.M., AM and BM shall serve their sentence in a regular security prison.

11. In application of Article 190 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, regarding material evidence, to be disposed of according to the reasoning part of this decision.

12. The costs incurred in the preliminary investigation phase and the court costs are jointly and severally charged to the defendants Hy.M, Hyg.M, AM and BM.

13. An appeal against this decision is allowed at the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction of Tirana within 15 (fifteen) days, starting from the day after the communication of the reasoned decision.
