The situation from the fires in our country seems to be far worse than reported by the authorities, even worse than in Greece, the neighboring country seems to have managed to control the largest number of fires, thanks to still assistance from EU countries.
The Ministry of Defence of Albania reported today 20 active fires, of which it said six fires have been extinguished, while 14 others remain active.
But according to the U.S. Aerospace Agency, NASA, the situation on the ground is different.
According to THE FIRMS (Fire Information for Resource Management System), a NASA project in cooperation with several other agencies in our country, over the past 24 hours there have been 27 fires active, from Tropoja to Konispol.
Many of these fireplaces correspond to what the Ministry of Defence has reported or been reported in the media, however many other fireplaces are missing. Of the 27 active fires in our country, no areas where three or four fireplaces are very close to each other are taken into account. They are considered as a single fire.
NASA satellites can see fires all over the world, measuring the intensity of the lighting that fires emit, which is then captured by nasa satellite sensors. The higher the intensity of the lighting, the stronger and active the fireplace.
It is worth noting that similar situation is in North Macedonia and Kosovo.
