Eight citizens from Albania are on the list of suspected ISIS members transferred from Syria to Iraq, according to documents published online about the latest United States operation.

The list includes 5,704 detainees from 61 different nationalities, who have been transported from detention centers in northeastern Syria to Iraqi authorities.

According to published data, among them are:

8 citizens from Albania

3 from Kosovo

1 from North Macedonia

23 from Bosnia and Herzegovina

27 from Germany

10 from the United Kingdom

8 from Belgium

4 from France

2 from the United States

The highest number is made up of Syrian citizens (3,544), followed by 467 Iraqis, as well as hundreds from other Arab, European and Asian countries.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the 23-day operation ended on February 12, with the airlift of more than 5,700 suspected ISIS fighters from detention facilities in Syria to Iraq.

According to American authorities, the measure was taken to avoid the risk of a mass exodus following recent developments in northern Syria.

Iraqi authorities have announced that those detained will be subject to investigations and judicial proceedings according to local law.

Iraq has long demanded that countries of origin repatriate their nationals suspected of links to ISIS, but the process has remained limited, mainly for women and children.
