A 58-year-old man from the village of Rëmbec in Maliqi passed away yesterday at the QSUT, after 15 days in a coma.

The victim, Jorgo Ajredini , was taken by his family to Korça hospital on August 13 with head injuries and, due to his serious condition, was immediately transferred to Tirana.

Initially, the Korça police referred to the incident as an accident, suspecting that the 58-year-old was hit by a horse. But the family members reject this version and insist that we are dealing with a criminal incident.

They say that Ajredini was found near the village sports field, thrown into a canal, with multiple wounds to his head, forehead, behind his ears, and jaw.

Their suspicions are also increased by the testimony that the deceased gave before losing consciousness. Agustin Ajredini, the victim's brother, recounts that the injured man told him that he was not hit by a horse, but by " a short person from Pogradec ."

This was his last communication with his family before he fell into a coma.

The other brother, Ilia Ajredini, also claims that the numerous injuries do not correspond to a horse kick, but to wounds caused by sharp tools. He also recalls an old conflict between the victim and a village resident, for family reasons.

In the same vein is the testimony of the victim's uncle, Kostaq Kosturi, who claims that the doctor at the QSUT ruled out the possibility of an animal accident, emphasizing that the wounds were caused by being hit with hard objects. After the 58-year-old's death, the police and the Korça prosecution have reopened the investigation.

So far, about 15 people have been escorted, including family members and residents of Rëmbec, while the area's security cameras have also been seized, which are being analyzed by the prosecution.

Investigators are awaiting the final forensic report, which is expected to determine whether this was a tragic accident or a criminal event.
