Interior Minister Ervin Demo described the involvement of minors in acts of violence during the protests as worrying.
He said they were used by the organizers on the front lines. At a press conference alongside Police Director Skënder Hita, Demo said that so far 269 minors under the age of 18 have been escorted.
"Minors have been used by the organizers, who have put them in the front line of the attack, while themselves standing behind. The escort figures show that their number is worrying. There are 269 escorts under the age of 18.
"This shows the great challenge we have to address this wound, which is actually a phenomenon that we need to give the right direction to. For minors, we need to find the way, the right support so that this phenomenon is a bitter memory of these last weeks," said Demo.
He also focused on threats against State Police leaders, to which the police have referred several cases, emphasizing that these threats were made through public communication channels by persons who have organized attacks on the police.
"The State Police have referred cases of threats made to certain leaders, who have used public communication channels to organize attacks on the police. It is unprecedented."
"We will follow legal steps to ensure that every employee performs their duties with the necessary protection. The government's approach is clear: we are open to dialogue with anyone who seeks dialogue on specific issues."
