Albanian Kolian Ilia is one of three people arrested in Greece, suspected of involvement in the powerful explosion in the Plaka neighborhood of Athens on September 25, where six people lost their lives, including three of Albanian origin.
Ilia was arrested along with two Greek citizens, aged 37 and 55. According to investigations by Greek authorities, the three suspects are suspected of having interfered with the gas supply system of a building, with the aim of stealing copper pipes.
This intervention allegedly caused damage to the pipeline and the leakage of natural gas, which accumulated in the building and exploded several hours later.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours of September 25, on Lysikratous Street, causing the collapse of the building and six casualties.
Today, the three arrested are expected to appear before the court, where the security measure against them will be reviewed.
They face serious charges, including arson and causing an explosion with fatal consequences, as well as possible intentional murder. Among the six victims were three Albanian citizens.
