Fear in the Netherlands. NEC Nijmegen star Bas Dost collapsed on the pitch during his side's Eredivisie match with AZ Alkmaar on Sunday as he was surrounded by distraught players.

The doctors immediately offered medical assistance, while the Az Alkmaar club has reassured everyone by confirming that the 34-year-old is fully conscious.

"Bas Dost is thankfully conscientious. I wish you a speedy recovery and strength Bas.” - writes the opposing club, Az Alkmaar on the "X" platform. After the umpire came to know about the incident, he called off the game, which was then suspended as Dost's health must come first.
