Igli Tare has spoken. He has done so officially in his first appearance in front of the microphones as the new sporting director, for a role that has always been considered the key to unlocking the door of doubts and uncertainties that Milan has carried after the last failed season. From which, however, it will continue in the same line, with the conviction that there is no need for epochal upheaval to deliver to Max Allegri a competitive team from which to start over: "There will be no revolution, in the end the only thing missing was a point of reference in the dressing rooms, a real leadership for the players".
The problem, therefore, is in the mind more than in the technical-tactical qualities of the team with which Milan ended the season that knocked them out of every European competition for the next 10 months.
Igli Tare showed without hesitation the path that is already being followed with the new cycle that began with his appointment, confirmed with the arrival of Allegri on the bench and that will continue while maintaining the basic structure of the team: "In the midfield is a department that we will change something, we need players with different characteristics" - explained the new sports director, closing the door in the face of those who expected a revolution: "The priority is to build a quality midfield before the defense. With Allegri we have maximum understanding, we talk 4-5 times a day. In the end, last year there was simply a lack of leadership".
Tare explains Modric signing
A leadership that for the coming season, Tare is convinced that he has already found in a man who was taken and immediately introduced into the new Milan of the technician Allegri: "In this sense, Modric will be essential, he has the mentality that Milan needs and that we want to have. The first thing he asked us when we contacted him was if we would be able to win the championship. For many it may seem an unusual purchase, but Milan needs this mentality".
Max Allegri's priority: "A midfield with more quality"
Tare remains clear and direct about other hot names in the transfer market and the basic strategies on which Milan has defined the direction: "In midfield we want to find more quality, that is the priority". Musah towards leaving: "Excellent player, but we want others with different characteristics and then we rely on the recovery and adaptability of Loftus-Cheek, stopped by many injuries. If someone leaves the defense, we will replace him". And that "someone" is Theo Hernandez, the future player of Al Hilal: "He was looking for new stimuli, no one has ever questioned his qualities".
Tare for Maignan and Leao, "two points of reference"
He will not leave Milan unless there is an "irresistible" offer, Mike Maignan: "There was no agreement with Chelsea" – Tare stressed again. "He remains a reference point on and off the field, if everything remains like this, he will continue with us". As well as the other "rumored" of the group, Rafa Leao: "Essential and the basis of our project. We have already spoken and he has asked us what Milan will play: he has shown his competitive mentality, but in attack we are looking for a real area striker, to give competition to Gimenez".
