After the coach Edi Reja, the Italian coach Roberto Mancini arrived in the conference hall of the "Air Albania" stadium, who answered the questions of the journalists present on the eve of the challenge between Albania and Italy.
The coach of the blues did not hide his disappointment that his Italy will play this friendly, instead of engaging in the World Cup, however, he admitted that they have appreciated the challenge with the red and blacks to the maximum.
We hope November passes quickly and peacefully…
Yes, it will be a difficult month unfortunately.
Come at a difficult moment and you will find yourself facing an opponent who has the support of an entire stadium. How hard will it be to keep the team focused?
Despite the disappointment we are experiencing at this moment, the matches are all to be respected and treated with the utmost seriousness. It is a match that we will play well and that is for sure. It's a match where we can try new guys, who we don't know well yet.
Unlike last gathering in the League of Nations, Chiesa e Zaniolo are back. Meanwhile, Kean is missing, although he scored two goals against Lazio...
I am very glad that Federico is back, as he is a very important element for us. The same goes for Zaniolo, who is a player who can give us a lot. He is a player who will improve greatly in all aspects. It is young and has all the time to improve. Moise has always behaved well when he was with us and he just needs to continue to do well, as he has the door open to the National Team.
At a moment like this, is Albania the right opponent?
We appreciate it as much as any opponent. Albania is playing at home and is not such a weak team, so I hope we will have a good game and see how it goes.
Which Albanian footballer who plays in Serie A has impressed you the most?
Everyone who plays there is very talented, because otherwise, they wouldn't play there. They are all good, as long as they play there.
You have won 34 out of 55 matches, you are European champions, but out of the World Cup. How does this situation make you feel?
It's actually a feeling I'm not experiencing this week, but for months, since March. We made a lot of mistakes and sport also has this side of the coin. After a fantastic European, there came a big disappointment. A World Cup without Italy is somewhat different, so we have to work in the right way to avoid such disappointments.
Have you decided which scheme you will play with, as you have recently also applied the 3-5-2 formation? Do you stand by the idea that Zaniolo is better off playing as a midfielder?
I think that Zaniolo, for the qualities he has, can give the best in the midfield. He often plays as a half-forward, or as a winger, so he knows these roles well. Depending on the game system, he can give us a lot. Regarding the scheme, we have players who have played with different formations and know how to adapt to 4-3-3, 3-5-2 etc., so this gives us the opportunity to adapt and change depending on the progress of the game.
Who will play next to Verrat tomorrow?
Anyone can play in the midfield, although we will try to rest someone who has really played a lot. Can play Barela, Tonali, or both. All three can play, together with Verratti. We can play with two or three in the midfield, this is not a problem, as all footballers are able to adapt to the best.
How well do you know the Albanian national team, given that you have previously worked with two Albanians such as Shaqiri and Rey Manaj?
I know him well enough, as there are many players who play in Italy, all of whom I know, as well as others who play in Europe. It is always a pleasure to return to Tirana, although the last time I was there was many years ago, when I played with the hopes of Italy.
