Serbia captain Aleksandar Mitrovic still hopes for a place in the 2026 World Cup even after the 0-1 defeat in Leskovac by Albania.
In the press conference before the match against Andorra to be played tomorrow at 20:45, Mitrovic said that his teammates on the national team should learn lessons from the loss against the Rossoneri.
"It's a difficult and painful result, a difficult period for the entire national team. After such a defeat you always want the next match to come as soon as possible. This is an important match for us, we need to get three wins to maintain our theoretical chances and we expect other results that suit us," said the Serbia captain.
Mitrovic further expressed optimism that Albania will record a loss in the two remaining matches against Andorra away and England on November 16 at "Air Albania".
"The focus is to stay in the game until the last game and hope that Albania will suffer a defeat ," he underlined.
Mitrovic further emphasized that he has spoken to his teammates to boost their morale.
"In football, there is not much time to celebrate after big wins, nor to be sad after a loss. This will hurt us for a long time, but we have no other choice. There are a lot of young players in the team and this is a big test for all those guys. We have to learn our lessons and move forward. The focus is entirely on the match with Andorra, and then we will think more deeply about what happened in the duel with Albania."
In Tuesday's match, the Serbian players will be led by Zoran Mirkovic, who was appointed interim coach following the resignation of Dragan Stojkovic.
