A photo of himself with his family, with the decorated Christmas tree in the background and a gingerbread cookie sticking out of the side, was enough for Salah to share Christmas greetings with an image of peace and harmony with his loved ones, to spark harsh criticism.
The reason?
His Muslim followers have reacted angrily to the Liverpool striker's move, accusing him of celebrating a typical Christian holiday. It is not the first time the Egyptian striker has published such content, drawing criticism from followers who have Allah in their hearts, but this time the opposition has been greater.
Someone even cursed him, calling it a "treacherous act": "Remember my words... you will not score a single goal until the end of the season, because you lacked respect for our beloved prophet and the entire Muslim community."

In the controversial photo, Salah posed with his wife, Magi, and their two daughters, Makka and Kayan. The photo has caused a lot of controversy in the Muslim community, to the point that some confused people wrote to the player: "I understand that for Christians, the birth of Jesus is a holiday to be celebrated on December 25. But I fail to understand how a Muslim believer can do this, when Islam strictly forbids such a thing. Salah has the right to follow the religion he feels closest to, but what he is doing as a Muslim is hypocrisy."
Harsh reactions
The photo has caused even more reactions, after it was posted on the eve of the traditional Boxing Day matches in the Premier League, which take place on December 26. "May Allah protect you until the end - wrote another Muslim follower. - From this moment on, I will no longer follow you on any platform and I will block you. You are shameful."
As for the football played, the agreement for the renewal of the contract between Salah and Liverpool has not yet been formalized. According to rumors published in the British media, the Egyptian and the Reds are expected to continue together until 2028, based on the agreement reached for the extension of the contract. As for the salary, it is expected to increase compared to the 400 thousand pounds per week (a little more than 400 thousand euros per week) that Salah currently benefits.
