Revolution in football, players will be punished with the orange card

A number of revolutionary rules are expected in football in the near future, as the International Football Law Board (IFAB) is poised to give the green light to a new definition of offside, which will be to the detriment of defenders.

Also, another innovation in football is expected, namely the IFAB should make a decision on the introduction of the orange card, which would bring something new to the game of football in the form of temporary suspensions.

The idea is that these tactical offences, arguments with the referees and misconduct are punished with an orange card and the penalized players leave the field for a certain period and then after this time has passed, unofficially it is ten minutes, to return on the field and continue the match.

The IFAB is expected to recommend the new rule at the committee's meeting in Glasgow next March, after which testing and the gradual implementation of the new rule in professional football will begin.

The orange card is supposed to be a penalty that will not be awarded by the referee, but by the fourth off-field official, who is supposed to show the card to the penalized player via the electronic scoreboard, which is used during player substitutions.
