Some might take it as a bad omen, others might think that history is unlikely to repeat itself. But it's impossible not to notice how much the Champions League final in Munich, on May 31 against PSG, resembles the last one Inter played, just two years ago, against Manchester City.

Firstly, both teams are Arab-owned, with different family ties between the French and English boards.

Both, before facing the black and blues, had only played one Champions League final in their entire history and both, with a year difference (2020 and 2021), had been defeated in the final act of the most important Cup with a score of 1-0.

Then you can't help but think about the other similarities, the technical ones.

City and PSG are led by two of the best performers of Barcelona-style positional football (the very team that was eliminated by Inter in the semi-finals), winning a treble each under the Catalans.

The treble that Guardiola repeated in Manchester by defeating Inter, the same result that Luis Enrique can achieve at PSG if he manages to defeat Rennes in the Coupe de France final and the black and blue in Munich.

The basic ideas are similar, with logical differences related to the characteristics of individuals and principles that differ in some details.

The common points, therefore, are numerous, but it is by no means said that history must repeat itself due to some coincidences. On the contrary…
