No trophies, but fans expect Liverpool players as heroes

Thousands of fans have gathered to host Liverpool's team at home in a parade to be hosted, despite losing 1-0 in the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

City will host a parade after the Reds secured the FA Cup and League Cup at the start of the season. They will also join the women's team, which won the FA Women's Championship trophy in April.

About 750,000 fans attended the parade after winning the Champions League in 2019.

The Liverpool club, who are also England's deputy champions, stated that the expenses of the festive events to be organised will be covered by it.

The events began in the morning with the commemoration of the anniversary of the Heysel Stadium disaster in Belgium, where 39 fans - mostly Juventus supporters - died after a cheerleading clash in the 1985 European Cup final between the two clubs.
