Israeli player reveals reason for provocation against Albanian fans

The author of Israel's only goal in the 1-0 victory over Albania at the "Air Albania" stadium, Oscar Gloukh, has explained the reason for the gesture that caused tensions on the field and led to his clash with some of the red and black footballers.

The Israeli player scored the decisive goal of the match in the second half and during the celebration he headed towards the stands, making a sign for silence to the Albanian fans. He then pointed to the Israeli emblem on his shirt and kissed it, an action that was not well received by the red and black players.

The first to react was Elseid Hysaj, who approached Gloukh and asked him to account for the celebration. The situation became tense for a few moments, with players from both teams getting involved, but everything quickly calmed down.

After the match, the 22-year-old revealed that his reaction was related to the whistles that were heard during the performance of the Israeli national anthem before the start of the match.

"I couldn't ignore that they whistled during the national anthem. We didn't expect this, it was just a friendly match. I was excited from the beginning and, with the emotions and the goal, this was my reaction at the end," Gloukh declared.

The Israeli footballer added that he has no regrets about his actions. "I don't regret it. I'm very happy," he stressed.

Israel's captain, Manor Solomon, also spoke about the atmosphere at "Air Albania", admitting that his team was surprised by the reaction of the Albanian fans during the anthem.

"We played a great match in a hostile atmosphere. As for the whistles during the anthem, we were surprised by them. It was unpleasant and probably the harshest whistle we have received so far. The Albanians welcomed us warmly, so we did not expect it. But as football players, we have to know how to deal with it," said Solomon.

Whistling during opposing anthems has become a recurring occurrence in Albanian national team matches in recent years, although it has often been criticized by both football leaders and the sports public.

In this case, they seem to have directly influenced Gloukh's celebration after the goal that gave Israel the narrow victory in coach Rolando Maran's debut on the red and black bench.
