Lazio's transfer window freeze has changed all plans for next season, causing the biggest crisis of the entire management of the club's number 1 Claudio Lotito. The Lazio club is in a terrible economic situation and the freeze imposed by Covisoc has also caught coach Maurizio Sarri by surprise, who returned to the bench exactly a month ago in place of Baroni.

The coach was unaware of anything and only in recent days had he discovered everything that was happening with the white and blue team and the restrictions they would have for the summer transfer market.

At this point, resignation is a possible scenario that would make the overall framework even more critical, especially because the team would have difficulty finding another valuable name for the bench. The departure of the Tuscan coach remains a real possibility because the blocking of the incoming transfer market changes all plans and would force a review of projects and promises for the future.

Sarri could resign from Lazio

The situation is in complete crisis and in these cases it is impossible to rule out even the most absurd scenarios. Maurizio's resignation as Lazio coach is more than a rumor, because according to some, the coach would not have been made aware of everything at the time of signing. He would have thus found himself facing a team unable to move in the transfer market without even knowing it in advance, a possibility that would clearly lead to an early departure.

There is still no confirmation, but there are many questions that need to be resolved. Covisoc communicated the transfer freeze to Lazio on May 26, a week before Sarri signed the contract: the coach probably knew that he was joining a club with liquidity problems (a situation that has been repeated several times in recent years), but was most likely unaware of the complete transfer freeze, as reconstructed by Il Messaggero.

Past clashes with Lotito

The former Napoli and Juve coach has also had tensions with president Lotito in the past, to the point where he left the team in March 2024 by submitting his resignation. The relationship with the president has never been idyllic and on that occasion the coach complained about the lack of support from the club. It is not a good precedent, aggravated later by the fact that he suddenly discovered all the problems in which Lazio is only after signing the contract to return.

On the other hand, Sarri is not a man of intermediate measures and for this reason the rumors of his departure would not be completely unfounded. For the moment, however, the coach continues to prepare the ground for next season, worried about what is happening in the white and blue house, and at the beginning of next week he could meet with Lotito to clarify his future before July 14, the day when Lazio's summer preparations will officially begin.
