Dzeko interrupts the press conference and kisses De Rossi

Daniele De Rossi made his debut as Genoa's new coach, even though he couldn't be on the bench to watch his young players as he would have liked, in Sunday afternoon's match against Fiorentina. A positive debut nonetheless, with the red and blues drawing 2-2 in front of their home fans. Then, the classic post-match press conference was interrupted by an unexpected scene: Edin Dzeko intervened directly and went to kiss De Rossi, who remained visibly confused and emotional: "We are really brotherly friends... what was I saying?"

De Rossi in the press conference, Dzeko intervenes: "I'll give you a kiss"

A special moment that sums up in a few seconds the essence of a friendship that goes beyond football, the colors worn or life choices. As Daniele De Rossi was preparing to comment on his first official match as a new coach on the Genoa bench, his words were suddenly interrupted by an unforeseen scene: without any warning, outside of any protocol, Edin Dzeko enters, who approaches his former teammate from his time at Roma and kisses him on the cheek: “Excuse me, guys” – the striker who now plays for Fiorentina says hastily – “let me give you a kiss, good luck, eh?”

De Rossi embarrassed: "We are brotherly friends... what was I saying?"

A scene that surprised first and foremost the coach De Rossi himself, who was embarrassed by the gesture of his friend and comrade, to the point that he lost every logical thread of the speech he was preparing for journalists interested in his first impressions as Genoa coach: "We'll talk later, we'll talk later" - replies the Bosnian Dzeko, visibly embarrassed.

Then he adds with a smile into the microphone: "I was sure he would score a goal for me when this one came in... his son's name is Dani, we are brotherly friends, I said to myself: this one will definitely score for me". And finally, laughing: "... sorry... I don't remember anymore, what was I saying?".

De Rossi pleased with Genoa's fighting spirit

What De Rossi was saying before Dzeko's sympathetic intervention was the fighting spirit he had seen in his young players and which he had really liked: "For me, when a team is in difficulty, it starts with the fight, it starts with the heart. I asked the boys to play a match like this, I didn't try to make it a phenomenon. We have to work hard, we have the heart to do it. Fiorentina is very strong and the team committed a lot. We have a big job ahead of us, but the boys have heart."
