Ermal Hasimja, one of the names on the list of candidates for the Tirana municipal elections, reacted today for the first time on Grida Duma's "Top Story". He said that the opposition needs to be united so that, in addition to receiving the votes of the united opposition, it also receives votes from the gray electorate.

He also indicated that his candidacy had come from the Opportunity Party and added that two other names on the shortlist were proposed by him in a conversation with Opportunity Party MP Erald Kapri.

"I have never been made these kinds of proposals in my entire life. It has never happened to me to see the right conditions for a kind of commitment until now. In this specific case, I do not know those commitments, so I am waiting, but as far as I am concerned, I see it as an assessment at the very least."

The embarrassment is now, that of separating how I speak today from how I spoke yesterday. I said it a long time ago, that the best opportunity for the opposition in the conditions we are in is for the entire opposition to be united to get its votes and then also those of the gray electorate. So I thought that a candidate who does not have a political burden would have an easier time approaching the gray electorate.

"I spoke with certain people at Mundësia, specifically with Eraldi, and two of the names I proposed myself are the names that are on that list, Floriani and Edlira, which includes me," said Hasimja.

He stated that anyone who enters the race for Tirana will be unprepared.

"The situation is difficult, anyone who enters the race will be unprepared. The situation is unexpected, today the president decreed the elections. Time is short, this does not depend on me or anyone else. That discussion is whether a strong political figure is needed, the DP of course also has the Opportunity Party, or whether a public figure, not a political one, is needed.

"I understand the attitudes in the studio, there are many cases not far from Albania, candidates of this type have succeeded. Bucharest and Budapest. It's not that there aren't other examples ," Hasimja said in Top Story.
