Matteo Salvini, leader of the League Party, one of the main forces of the Italian center-right coalition, and one of the political poles most favored by the polls to win the early elections on September 25, in an interview with RTV Ora, says that "he hopes that very soon I will visit Albania for the first time in the guise of a representative of a right-wing government."
Senator Salvini, leader of the League Party, thank you for accepting this short interview for RTV Ora e Ora News Albania a few days before the elections. About 700,000 Albanian immigrants live in Italy and many of them have the right to vote in these elections on September 5. And in this election campaign, your political opponents remember your words to the Albanians you once called traffickers, smugglers, criminals. How do you comment?
Matteo Salvini: For me, it is really an emotion that in this electoral campaign I find many Albanian flags, that is, Albanians, in the squares. It means that during all these years, friendship, attendance and recognition have helped us to understand each other, to be appreciated and to find points. meeting each other. You are a proud people of your history, culture and tradition. You are a people present throughout the Italian territory, composed in most cases of good working men and women. And if there are some who make a mistake, just as there are Italians, it is right to be punished.
Senator, you are a leader of a Right Party in a friendly country for Albania. How are your relations with the Albanian right? Do you have a political exchange with right-wing Albanian politicians? What about the leftist Albanian government?
Matteo Salvini: I think that the relationship between Italy and Albania should be stronger. I have constant relations with many Albanian politicians, both from the opposition and from the government, because unlike the Italian left, I do not discriminate. it is my duty and pleasure to have direct contact with Tirana.
I really hope that I will come to Albania for the first time in government clothes in an official way, since we need to make closer the relations between Albania and Italy, which have recently become rare due to the fault of the Italian governments and the European Union. confused. Proximity in the path of integration of Albania and other neighboring countries in Europe is essential.
The connection is a movement of autonomy, identity, Europe of peoples. And I ask the Italian Albanians to choose the League, to choose honesty, rules, employment. Thank you for your trust and see you soon in Albania.
