The suicide of Pal Trashaj, the historian from Lezha who fell victim to microcredits, has fueled strong debates in Parliament today.
Democratic deputy Gazment Bardhi attacked the Bank of Albania and governor Gent Sejko, saying that he did not take any initiative to monitor the purchase of bad loans, although for years there were hundreds of alarming complaints from citizens.
SP MP Eduard Shalsi responded to Bardhi, who said that for two days, since the suicide of Pal Trashaj, he "doesn't sleep peacefully.
Shalsi, however, asked not to attack the Bank of Albania and Governor Gent Sejko, anathemaing them without facts. He said that "he is not a prosecutor", but "he cannot say that Pal Trashaj's apartment was seized, when (according to him) nothing like that happened".
"I don't sleep peacefully. I haven't had a good night's sleep for two days. It's an alarm bell. There are many of us who do not sleep peacefully from that event. But how about using that event to attack independent institutions, which on the one hand act as if they are worried and on the other hand also use it to misinform.
I am taking this incident seriously, I am collecting data, how it happened, who are the culprits, but I am not a prosecutor to say that they took his house, when they did not. You cannot talk about Gent Sejko as a street scumbag, he is the head of an independent institution. Do not become mussel and fish specialists, anathematizing with a not at all decent vocabulary. I have a call for you, be more careful when you turn to independent institutions", declared Shalsi.
