Today is the last day of the election campaign. On Sunday, 334,539 thousand voters from five municipalities will vote to elect new mayors in Vlora, Berat, Tepelena, Berat and Mat.

Saturday is election silence, but this is marked as the most atypical campaign, as neither party is making any noise even though we are on its last day.

Candidates in Vlora, Berat, Tepelena, Cerrik and Mat have conducted their campaigns without political protagonism, and neither the leaders of the major parties, Rama and Berisha, have appeared at any rallies or electoral meetings.

In Vlora, the number of citizens with the right to vote is approximately 172 thousand, in Berat over 82 thousand, in Cërrik approximately 39 thousand, in Mat 29 thousand, and in Tepelena, 12,600.

The Democratic Party and the opposition officially do not have candidates registered under their banner, but have declared support for several names who have been declared independents, who will face the 5 socialists but also several other names.

In Vlora, Brunilda Mersini of the Socialist Party, who left her mandate as an MP to run for mayor, will compete against two Democrats, the PD-supported candidate Dionis Sota, while Gjergj Nika, a member of the Municipal Council elected under the Democratic Party banner, will also be in the race.

In Berat, the Socialist Party has proposed candidate Ervin Ceca, who will face Pavlo Shkarpa.

There will also be a three-way race in the municipality of Mati. Altin Bojni will be the socialist candidate, while another socialist has challenged Rama's proposal by announcing her independent candidacy, the former chairwoman of Grua in the local SP, Suzana Pasha. Meanwhile, the DP and the opposition support the independent candidacy of Eduart Brahilika.

In Cerrik, Florenc Doka of the Socialist Party will run against independent candidate Amarildo Hoxha, for whom Berisha's Democratic Party has also declared its support. In this municipality, there will also be a third candidate, under the logo of the party 'Albania Movement', which is Eligert Hima.

In Tepelena, the Socialist Party has proposed the candidate Gramoz Sako, while the opposition will support the independent Gabriel Guma.

The mandate of the new mayors will be only one and a half years, until local elections are held in the spring of 2027.
