For several years, Albania has been organizing a so-called "Diaspora Summit".
Various immigrants living in Albania, as well as Albanian politicians living in neighboring countries, are invited to it.
It talks about the fate of Albanians around the world and what more needs to be done for them.
Now, from the outset, this is a huge hypocrisy.
This is because you cannot call the immigrants who have left Albania in the last 30 years a diaspora.
They are Albanians who have left their country due to corruption, misgovernment, lack of justice, education, healthcare, etc.
They are not a diaspora. They are Albanians who have been forced to leave Albania, due to leftist and rightist governments.
Diaspora refers to those who left Albania, for example during the time of Turkey, but not today's immigrants.
The Arbëresh can be called a diaspora, but not the immigrants living in Italy, Greece, Germany, America or anywhere else, most of whom still have Albanian passports, and even homes or families in Albania.
And they have preserved Albanian tradition and culture very well, without needing the help of the Albanian state.
Second, the Albanian-speaking politicians from neighboring countries, who are invited to this Summit as representatives of the Diaspora, are not diaspora.
They are indigenous to their countries.
Simply put, today they are not part of Albania, due to circumstances.
