The competition for the leadership of the Oncology Service at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center has been shrouded in scandal over the predetermination of the winner and non-compliance with legal criteria.

There are two candidates in the race, a surgeon and an oncologist, while according to the Decision of the Council of Ministers (VKM), the candidate for leading a service must be a specialist in the relevant field, in this case an oncologist.

According to sources close to the health system, there are suspicions that the winner of the competition was determined in advance, which casts a shadow on the transparency of the process. If these allegations are confirmed, then this is a serious violation of the legal criteria on which the selection of service managers is based.

While candidates are required to have academic degrees, years of experience, and present a 4-year development platform, sources raise concerns that the fundamental criterion – being a specialist in the relevant field – may be overlooked.

The situation has raised questions about the integrity of the process and the role of responsible institutions.

Under these conditions, the questions are straightforward:

Who is pushing this appointment in violation of legal criteria?

And is the Ministry of Health aware of a process that risks turning into a public scandal?

Because when it comes to Oncology, it's not just a matter of chairs, but a matter of lives and the establishment of integrity in that service.
