Quarrel in parliament within the Socialist group, none of Erion Braçe's proposals are approved

The new draft law "On Concessions" will also be voted on in the Assembly tonight.

But the proposals of Socialist MP Erion Braçe have been rejected by his colleagues.  

Braça's amendments for declaring the beneficial owner and the source of financing were opposed by his own party, thus creating a serious rift in the ranks of the Socialists.

Meanwhile, another proposal by Braça that was rejected by the Socialists was that PPP-type concessions should not benefit from the fiscal peace. Opposition MPs were in favor of Braça's proposal, but the Socialist Party was against it.

Socialist MP Erion Braçe warned before the vote that a major risk is associated with the practice of transferring contracts from winning companies to third parties, emphasizing that this could also affect national security.

"We have many experiences related to the transfer of contracts. It is enough to draw attention to the fact that Rinas airport in its original form was managed by a Western consortium and that it was handed over to a Chinese concession, and it has to do with national security. Especially in the field of energy related to gas, oil and others, we have not received enough investments in Albania, with the transfer of contracts from American shareholders to Chinese ones", said Braçe, among other things.

The new law aims to permanently ban unsolicited bids, abolish the “1 euro” contract scheme, and give the Ministry of Finance full control over feasibility studies, draft contracts, and periodic monitoring of PPPs.
