35th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party, Berisha: We will defend the national interest, even if the whole world is against us
At the ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha said that the Democratic Party remains a party of national interests.
He stated that the DP protects the country's interests, even if the world is against the Democratic Party.
"We bow before the founders and leaders of the DP, Azem Hajdari, Pjetër Arbnor, Gramoz Pashko, Ali Spahisa, Bujar Nishani, Sokol Olldashi, Gerti Bogdani and dozens of central and local government leaders. The DP is the party of national interest. We are the party that gave Albanians the strength to overcome 45 years of oppression. In 1990, among the pedagogues who rose up was a young man, Edi Rama, who today has become a disaster for the nation. He immediately left the DP, everyone knows this. The DP made the country a member of NATO, made Albanians have upper middle incomes. The Democratic Party played an irreplaceable role in Kosovo's independence. The DP will protect the national interest, even if the whole world is against the Democratic Party. Our ideals will overthrow the only narco-state in Europe ," declared the democratic leader.
Actress Rajmonda Bulku, in her speech, declared that the DP was the party that brought freedom to Albania.

"We need to know where we come from. 35 years ago there was a communist dictatorship, there was the State Security, it could even physically annihilate you. But, the DP changed the course of the country once and for all, bringing democracy. Continue because we will trust you and support you. Victory ," said actress Bulku.
Former Democratic Minister Genc Pollo stated that the Democratic Party brought the country into NATO and brought great progress for the country.
"The Democratic Party achieved extraordinary developments. The DP was the one that brought Albania into NATO, while also creating good relations with our traditional allies, the United States of America and other Western countries ," said Pollo.
Fiona Nishani, daughter of the late former president Bujar Nishani, also spoke at the anniversary. She said she belongs to the generation that enjoyed visa liberalization, a development that came from the Democratic Party.

"Today we remember the 35th anniversary of the founding of the DP. Albanians defied fear and paved the way for democracy. We are the generation that traveled without visas, because the DP liberalized visas. When the DP was at the helm of the country, Albania moved forward," declared Fiona Nishani.
The Democratic Party was founded on December 12, 1990, becoming the first pluralist party in the country, after a long communist dictatorship that the country experienced.
