The news of the opening of the Serbian consulate in Shkodra has prompted the reaction of former Prime Minister Pandeli Majko .
Following the agreement in principle between Albania and Serbia to open a Serbian consular office in Shkodra and an Albanian consular office in Bujanovac, he published a post on social networks.
Majko commented on this development, noting the contrast between the two places where consular offices will be opened: Shkodra in Albania and Bujanovac, in the territory of Serbia, but inhabited mainly by Albanians.
Pandeli Majko's reaction:
"Serbian consulate in Shkodra?!
In Shkodra, the Serbian consulate will be more important than the minority itself!
In contrast to the opening of the Serbian consulate in Shkodra, the Albanian consulate will be opened in the Presheva Valley! The comparison is more than an irony…!
The Presevo Valley is a territorial continuity inhabited by Albanians remaining under the sovereignty of Serbia!
The consulate in the Presevo Valley "avoids" Kosovo! In Shkodra, the Serbian consulate has Montenegro in the middle!
For Albania, it seems that the consulate has been treated as an expression of standard interest! For Serbia, which does not recognize the sovereignty of Kosovo and discusses the identity of Montenegro, it is something else!
"Serbia has received more than one consulate in Shkodra."
