Saimir Tahiri recourse to the Supreme Court: Suspend the stay in prison
Former Minister of Interior, Saimir Tahiri

Former Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri will appeal today to the Supreme Court, requesting the suspension of his stay in prison. Tahiri opposes the decision of the Special Appeal in violation of the law.

Also, the Special Prosecution SPAK has appealed to the High Court, against the sentence of the former minister with only 3.4 years in prison. In these conditions, Saimir Tahiri's lawyers have been set in motion and this afternoon they will submit the request for innocence.

According to the lawyers, Tahiri should be acquitted and the court should reject the accusations of the prosecution for drug trafficking and criminal group, as well as the accusation of abuse of office.

In these conditions when the file is sent for recourse, Tahiri is required to be suspended and his stay in prison until a final decision is issued.

SPAK on the other hand has requested the return of the case to the Special Appeal with the argument that Saimir Tahiri was part of the criminal group of the Habilaj brothers and cooperated with them in drug trafficking.

The former minister insists on innocence.
