Fredi Beleri, who temporarily left his cell to be sworn in as an MEP in Strasbourg, has returned to Albania
"I don't regret going to the cell", declared the MEP
So, in an interview with the Greek media, ERT, Beleri is optimistic that he will be released from prison very soon.
"There is a request that I be released with 2/3 of the sentence like every other prisoner in Albania. I have served 2/3, there is a good chance that the Albanian court will decide to release me. I consider that the permission given to me is a de-escalation move, but I don't know the next step", Fredi Beleri, convicted by the Albanian court on the charge of vote buying in the May 2023 elections, said, among other things.
"It was never my intention to become a politician in Greece", he further stated.
"Unfortunately, these reactions from the Albanian side forced us to have an answer. I think that the answer was more appropriate", Fredi Beleri emphasizes in his interview.
