Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting today with entrepreneurs and with the heads of vocational schools in the country.
Rama said the government will create the National Enabling Fund, a fund which will go towards human capital. He called on businesses, mainly in the field of tourism, to invest in human capital.
"The next example I want to give is what perspective means. Germany gives you the perspective, boss there, like, I'm going. But what perspective can one student be perceived to be going to Burrel's dorm, or another? We are making a massive investment in dormitories, and vocational education dormitories should be the places where those who study for Hotels also do management. The conditions we have to ensure is that the child, when he comes from the village, has better room than he left there. If he is not inspired, I will take the road and go to Gjemrani," rama said.
Rama said the government would invest in professional dormitories in the country.
"So let's all together give a new impetus to this process. Even with this fund we're gonna make, we'll take your money. And we're going to turn them into investment for human capital. These are the most challenging years for tourism. The cases of countries that have had the opposite effect after they have become trending places are not few. And we shouldn't be one of those countries, it would be a disaster.
The people who serve there are not enough conditions. As it is explained, there are no new waiters in many prestigious hotels, they have been there for 30 years as homeowners. A few years ago, the doorkeeper in the suit in England was 70 and a bit old, and he told me they wouldn't let me retire. They're figures in this industry, they're not "come on, I'll call you a waiter,"" he said.
In the end, Rama also set an example for young people, who according to him should not give up and be demoralized.
"Many of them have done other schools, but it's not like you've just finished university and they're waiting for you. Kate Winslet won an Oscar with Di Caprio with Titanic, but after finishing one of the best acting schools, she worked in salami and went to work for roles."
