Rama: Now we want European justice, not Russian, democratic standards must be
Edi Rama

The Socialist Party Parliamentary Group has gathered at the Presidency of the Assembly, where a hearing is being held with the rector of the Agricultural University, Fatbardh Sallaku, following 24 measures issued by SPAK for

Sallaku said that they do not comment on justice, but believe in a fair process, saying that the staff has started the legal battle and hopes that they will prove that they have implemented the law. Sallaku said that Agriculture is at a historic moment as it has entered the path of transformation with the aim of full recognition of diplomas with the BOKU University of Vienna.

Rama himself said that these are measures without a trial and that they are fighting for a European justice and not a Russian one and that they are not exerting pressure. Rama said that only the Socialist Party is the guarantor of the new justice and without it, VIP investigations would never have been seen.

The first thing that came to my mind when I received this news is what the Austrian partners will think when they hear 24 people in security measures, a staggering number for a matter that has been going on for two or three years and that has not been flagrantly reported, there is no reason to create this blow for an institution of higher education. Especially since it is about scientific research funds, where if there has been abuse, the abusers must answer to the end, but 24 people in security measures. I believe this is sufficient in terms of what the rector said and the whole concern is to give a message to students and partners, while justice will do its job, there is no reason to block the work.

The Special Prosecutor's Office imposed 24 security measures on the staff of the Agricultural University, 5 prison sentences, 10 house arrests and 9 mandatory reporting, on suspicion of tender abuse and corruption. Nine prosecution procedures, conducted in 2022, with a procurement value of 900 thousand euros, are the episodes that the Special Prosecutor's Office has investigated. SPAK says that UBT officials in collaboration with businesses inflated tenders and benefited from the money.
