Rama calls the court's decision that reinstated Erion Veliaj a SCANDAL: Absurd impasse!

Prime Minister Edi Rama has commented again today on the Constitutional Court's decision, which reinstated Erion Veliaj.

In his podcast "Flasim", the head of government considered the created situation as an absurd impasse, while addressing the Constitutional Court, asking it to release Veliaj.

"I want to emphasize something else, whatever has been said has not told the truth regarding the reason for the dismissal of the mayor by the government, as a result of the decision taken by the SP in the municipal council.  The truth is simple, Tirana must be led, it cannot be a body without a head. The capital of Albania needs its own elected leader. Whoever has the power to help resolve this absurd impasse, must remember that beyond all conspiracy theories that the capital cannot be treated as an orphan for years. This is a scandal in itself, a scandal that citizens pay an unfair cost ," said Rama.

Edi Rama: First of all, it seems, and it is not the first time, that I have not seized all the power. This is a good thing that those who oppose him should accept, not on the basis of truths, but on the basis of untruths.

Secondly, if Tirana does not have elections until 2027, we are faced with a double disproportion. The disproportion of keeping him in prison is not simply to the detriment of the constitutional rights and freedoms of the person, but also to the detriment of the constitutional right of the people of the capital to be served by their elected representative or not.

Thirdly, any normal person who does not see in the Constitutional Court's position a blind stance against the government to the great detriment of Tirana, but rather a firm, principled stance, cannot help but expect that with the same principle, when judging his detention, the Constitutional Court will return Erion Veliaj to duty, to continue the judicial process in a free state.
