Rama: The final recognition of Kosovo will come, Albanians never better than
Edi Rama

Prime Minister Edi Rama's speech concluded the joint meeting between the two Albanian-Kosovo assemblies, held in Tirana on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Independence.

Rama declared that Albanians have never been better than today in relation to foreigners, not leaving out the Albanians of Montenegro and North Macedonia. As for Albania-Kosovo relations, the Albanian Prime Minister declared that they are not only excellent, but also productive.

"Here we are together, like never before. I want to say something that I didn't have the chance to say, today it cannot be left without remembering that the life history of those 40 signers of independence goes through tragic endings. And their subsequent treatment, before and after the fall of communism, is sporadically limited.

Allow me to share with you the conviction that Albanians have never been better than today in relation to foreigners. But again, even today, I don't believe that Albanians are better off in relation to themselves. I believe that the final recognition of Kosovo will come earlier and that Kosovo will not wait as long as it did for independence to be recognized internationally. On the other hand, the view in North Macedonia is even more tangible and impressive. Much later after the independence of Kosovo, it was the place where the Albanian language continued to be seen as the language of an undesirable party, the place where the Albanian flag continued to be seen as a provocation. Today, I don't believe that there are many who can say that they knew that on the 110th anniversary of independence, North Macedonia would have Albanian as its official language and an Albanian speaker. Also, I don't believe that anyone thought before that Montenegro could have an Albanian prime minister like it has today. The rights of Albanians are many times more advanced than they have ever been.

Relationships are not just great but productive, more than they have ever been. This is shown by the facts and the increased will and ability to implement cooperation in mutual interest in practice. Or the freedom of movement that until yesterday seemed like an impossible mission. Or the joint work for the encyclopedic dictionary. Or the work started to make in reality what is the greatest work of the future, the Port and the Railway. For the railway, we already have the bidders, the largest companies in Europe, who have bid to take over the project of the two governments, with a joint decision. At the beginning of next year, we start and open the competition for the new Port of Durrës, which will be built in Porto Romano, if everything goes according to plan, at the beginning of the second 6 months of next year we will be on the construction site,

For another railway, we are in discussions in cooperation with the Government of North Macedonia. I hope they will join us in the final project, after we have presented the concept. I want to return to those who started it, to those who paved the way for those who gave us opportunities, some we used, some we lost. Today is a good, beautiful, inspiring day for this sight that has brought us all together, whether we like it or not. I will bring two names to attention, without which this day would not be, the Democratic Union of Kosovo and the Liberation Army of Kosovo. Both are related to Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova and Hashim Thaçi, this one is temporarily separated from us," declared Rama.
