The Prime Minister of Albania has responded to the President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani and the Montenegrin President, Milo Djukanovic for the Open Balkans initiative, emphasizing that this initiative will not stop.
Rama writes on Twitter that: "Everyone who is against the Open Balkans has the right not to see, hear or understand that this initiative promotes peace, cooperation, integration and accelerates the Berlin Process!" "The Open Balkans will not stop because the future cannot stop."
The reaction came after a joint conference by Vjosa Osmani and her Montenegrin counterpart in Pristina. The President of Montenegro offered support for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, while together with Osmani they again opposed the Open Balkans initiative.
"It has proved especially in recent months that it would result in the opening of our region for an even greater influence of Russia, so we must stop it at all costs. "Instead of accelerating the progress of our countries towards the EU, it would put them in a waiting room and consequently it would prolong the integration process even more", declared Osmani.
While Milo Djukanovic stressed: "We think that Open Balkan is an initiative which came out in a moment of depression that has gripped the countries of the region and they thought that European integration was impossible and that maybe with the departure of Chancellor Merkel, European integration for The Western Balkans is disappearing. "But that is not correct."
