The National Council for European Integration met to discuss "Progress in the fight against corruption and implementation of the European Commission recommendations in the 2021 Report on Albania and the EU-Albania Subcommittee on Justice, Freedom and Security 2021".

At the meeting of the National Council for European Integration with a focus on the fight against corruption, Taulant Balla raised the question why the SPAK does not investigate January 21, Gerdec and Sali Berisha declared "non grata" by the US.

During his speech, the chairwoman of KKIE, Jorida Tabaku, intervened several times, asking her to talk about integration. At the end of Balla's speech, there was no lack of response from Tabaku, who told him that he should have the same opinions about the former SP deputies who have committed electoral crimes.

Excerpts from the debate

Balla :  Why does SPAK not investigate January 21, why does it not investigate corruption in Gerdec? The third that is important to me, what is the opinion of the Albanian prosecution for 'non grata'. The US has designated Sali Berisha "non grata" .

Tabaku :  Focus on integration. Then I move on to the other non women .

Ball : Keep calm. Albania as a country that has the US strategic partner should take other documents seriously. Berisha has committed abuse of office. Has the Albanian Prosecution registered any criminal proceedings? Has any mail order been sent to you documentation? We have the case of the former Attorney General. From this point of view, I think this report should be concrete, not with the discussions we all agree on. Tabaku :  I hoped that you would share the same thoughts for the former deputies of the Socialist Party who have been declared 'non grata'. And it's about electoral crimes. Therefore, I invite you to make the SPAK call for them as well.
