The President of Azerbaijan is coming to Tirana on Tuesday, after Rama's
Edi Rama and Ilham Aliyev

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, will visit Albania on Tuesday at the invitation of the Albanian President, Bajram Begaj.

The Albanian head of state will receive the Azeri president with an official state ceremony. This is considered a historic visit, as it is the first time that the Azeri president arrives in Albania.

With Azerbaijan, Albania has the Trans Adriatic Pipeline Agreement which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor, and transports natural gas to Europe from the Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan. Connecting to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline at the Greek-Turkish border, TAP crosses Northern Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea before coming ashore in Southern Italy to connect to the Italian natural gas network.

We recall that during the visit that Prime Minister Edi Rama made to Baku in April of this year, he and the Azeri president discussed a number of projects, including the construction of a gas refinery in Albania.
