Educators decide on an indefinite boycott: Our demands should be considered

The teachers will continue the boycott of the lesson, without a deadline. This was the decision taken today in their protest by the academic staff of public universities in the country.

The national protest took place for almost 1 hour and 30 minutes, where the pedagogues conveyed their messages, while calling on Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government cabinet to meet their demands.

According to the head of the Union, Sandër Kovaçi, at the meeting, the decision was made to continue protests every day in front of the Polytechnic, while in the districts in front of the respective universities.

Dear colleagues of public HEIs,
the Union of Employees of the Universities of Albania (SPUSH) declares the continuation of the protests, in support of the Petition dated August 30, 2022, addressed to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education and Sports and rectors of public HEIs.

Dear colleagues, only our common persistence and persistence will enable the assessment and return of the academic dignity of our staff and universities.

If, on October 20, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., a national protest will take place, in the form of a total boycott, in front of the Central Corps Building of the Polytechnic University, where all public universities of the country will participate. We also invite students to provide support with their presence. Let's all be together tomorrow in this academic space.

Only our common resistance and unity, accompanied by the indisputable arguments of our Petition, will make it possible to achieve the goal we have set for ourselves. This cause is not only in the function of the academic staff, the auxiliary-academic, administrative staff and the students of public HEIs, but it aims at the awakening and awareness of the entire Albanian society for such existential concerns.
