The Assembly yesterday approved amendments to the Electoral Code to facilitate the voting of the diaspora and Albanians abroad in the general elections on May 11. The legal amendments ensure the coverage of all postal costs for each ballot from abroad, as well as their counting by a bipartisan commission.

Prime Minister Edi Rama invited the diaspora to register to vote in the May 11 parliamentary elections to put an end to what he calls the swamp and the owl that is holding the country hostage, referring to the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.  

Rama stressed that the group chapters are opening rapidly and Albania is on track to integrate by 2030.

" The vote of May 11 is decisive for the Albania of 2030. Within the 4th mandate, we will raise the red and black flag at the much-respected and much-desired summit of the EU. We are here for questions and answers, but we have received two letters to open two other groups of chapters. It is an extraordinary speed of the progress of the negotiations that Albania is fulfilling with rapid steps while here the cauldron with the swamp owl is boiling, fanning the possible fires of the past that will all be extinguished and May 11 will be the end of the history of a swamp with an owl that has taken the Albanian opposition hostage and hangs like a shadow of a curse over its head since 1912, " said Rama in a conversation with citizens on social networks.
