Requested postponement of elections for DP leader, "Rithemelimi"

The Re-establishment Commission has rejected the request of the candidate for the leader of the Democratic Party, Ibsen Elezi, who requested a 14-day postponement of the date of the May 22 elections, as he considers it as insufficient time. According to "Rithemelimit", the date of the elections has been approved by the National Assembly, which is the highest decision-making body in the DP.

In the race are former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and Ibsen Elezi. "Re-establishment" suggests that both candidates have been offered premises in the blue headquarters and access to the digital list of the DP membership database.

Notice:

The meetings of the Commission for Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, dated 10 and 11 May, were held in the presence of the representatives of the two candidates.
 
At the meeting, the representatives of the candidates were acquainted with the Internal Regulation on the Modalities of the Electoral Process for Chairman of the Democratic Party approved, which will constitute the basic document of the Commission for Organization and Control of Electoral Operations, branches of the Democratic Party and candidates for Chairman. PD.
 
For the first time, all the requests received in the Commission from the Candidates who have been provided with:

- working environment inside the headquarters of the Democratic Party, as well as in the headquarters of the branches if they need it;

- necessary electoral infrastructure;

- access to the digital list of the Democratic Party membership database, (after both candidates have signed the declaration pledging to protect the personal membership data);

- access to the contact list of the chairmen of all branches of the Democratic Party.
 
Since to date, only Mr. Berisha has presented to the Commission a calendar of meetings in the following days; The Commission once again requested from the two representatives of the candidates to submit as soon as possible a complete calendar of meetings in order to make the necessary reconciliations and announcements in the respective branches.
 
Regarding the request presented in the media by Mr. Ibsen Elezi, let us know that:

1. The date of the elections for Chairman of the Democratic Party was approved by Decision no. 2 of the National Assembly of the Democratic Party dated April 30, 2022. The National Assembly is the highest decision-making body in the Democratic Party.
 
The Electoral Operations Organization and Control Commission will continue its work with dedication to guarantee for each candidate free competition, open competition and equal opportunities.
 
The commission invites all members of the Democratic Party to become part of the campaign for the election of the Chairman of the Democratic Party that will be finalized in the vote on May 22, 2022.
