Enkelejd Alibeaj called the meeting of the parliamentary group on Monday at 14.00 to take a decision regarding the process of electing the president of the republic.

This is the second meeting after the one on May 5, where Alibeaj aims to gain the support of the majority of Democrat deputies to sit at the negotiating table with the Socialist party for the new head of state. This time, Alibeaj expects the Democratic deputies to bring in writing the criteria that the president of the republic must meet in order to have a unified position.

But this move of Alibeaj is not expected to unify the parliamentary group, which is divided into 3 camps; the deputies who support Enkelejd Alibeaj, the 17 deputies who are with Sali Berisha and are part of the Re-establishment Commission and the third group of deputies who are neither with Alibeaj nor with Sali Berisha.

From this group has come the strongest criticism of the process that Enkelejd Alibeaj wants to build.

Former Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party Agron Gjekmarkaj has stated that he will not propose criteria for the President of the Republic.

While for the 17 deputies of the Re-establishment Commission the political action is clear, they have dismissed Enkelejd Alibeaj and will not participate in the meetings convened by him.
