The Albanian government aims to begin closing 10 negotiation chapters with the European Union within this year. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu, at a press conference following a government meeting this Wednesday.

"Our ambition is to start closing 10 chapters within this year. It is a dynamic process, but please allow me not to mention the chapters, as we will sit down at the table with the European side to finalize the tasks," said Koçiu.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that two decisions were approved at the government meeting that, according to her, ensure the smooth running of the negotiation process.

"The work of Albanian institutions is irreversible and consolidated, they have reached the maturity to undertake the reforms and commitments required of Albania," said Koçiu.

"The government approved the national roadmap for achieving the sustainable development objectives by 2030. A strategic document containing 66 measurable criteria that will guide the work of public institutions. The second decision is that of the strategic partnership between the institutions and the Albanian government with UN agencies, a document based on three pillars, sustainable human capital development, sustainable economic transformation and green growth and good governance, justice and human rights," she added.
