Two American congressmen will hold separate meetings today with representatives of the Albanian Student Movement and with leaders of the Albanian opposition in North Macedonia.
Macedonian media reports that the focus of the meeting between Congressmen Keith Self and Suhas Subramanyam will be concerns regarding, as assessed by the participants, efforts to destroy the spirit of the Ohrid Agreement and violate the rights of Albanians.
According to Macedonian media information, the meeting is expected to take place this afternoon in Pristina, where the two American congressmen are currently located.
Mevlan Ademi will also participate in the meeting, along with representatives of the students who have organized the recent protests to protect the use of the Albanian language and the implementation of constitutional and legal rights.
Sources from the organizers tell Macedonian media that the students will present their concerns regarding the non-implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages, as well as warnings about, according to them, a rollback in relation to the rights acquired after the Ohrid Agreement.
Meanwhile, at 8:30 PM, Congressmen Keith Self and Suhas Subramanyam are expected to hold a meeting with the leaders of the Albanian opposition in North Macedonia, where Ali Ahmeti, Arben Taravari and Zijadin Sela will participate.
The main topic of discussion is expected to be political developments in the country, the position of Albanians, and concerns about trends that, according to the Albanian opposition and the Student Movement, endanger the principles of equality and coexistence guaranteed by the Ohrid Agreement.
Meanwhile, the two American congressmen have so far visited Presevo, where they have met and discussed with Albanian officials in the Valley, while they have also been received by the highest leaders of Kosovo. Keith Self and Suhas Subramanyam are the two influential American congressmen who have continuously supported the causes and rights of Albanians in Macedonia and Serbia, while lobbying for the unreserved support of Kosovo in international organizations.
