By Ferdinand Dervishi
After the publication of my name on the lists of candidates for deputies proposed by the "Albania Becomes" party, I see that I need to clarify many friends, the general public, and especially those who seem to have a deaf exclamation point stuck in their minds.
Everything was triggered by a chance meeting, about a year ago, with Mr. Adriatik Lapaj – the leader, whom I had begun to sympathize with due to accurate information that said that, in some polls considered reliable, the influence of the current government, his and the party “Albania Becomes”, artificially lowered their popular support points. It was a favorability that at some points and in a few months equaled the party with more supporters.
The conversation made me think. It even seemed to me, the entire time, as if I were having a dialogue with the Ferdinand Dervish of my youth.
His ideas and courage reminded me of Ferdinand, aged 30-40, along with his dreams that Albania would one day become one.
Ferdinand, who, thinking that Albania would be made, dared to write the truth about crime and criminals. Ferdinand, who, after Nehat Kulla hit him and his colleagues on duty, took to the streets of Tirana alone at night to file a criminal report at the police stations and the Tirana prosecutor's office, where everyone, frightened, chased him away.
I saw Ferdinand the next day, the curfew from crime in the KLAN yard, and his colleague, Blendi Fevziu, get up from his coffee and, pretending to go to the car, approach him and whisper, without turning his head or stopping his step: don't withdraw the lawsuit!
I remembered Ferdinand going to the Tirana Court, alone, to attend the trial with Nehat Kulla, at a time when a colleague-superior was eating and drinking with his lawyers, vowing and undertaking that Ferdinand would obey and withdraw from the lawsuit.
I saw journalist Ferdinand Dervishi, who, thinking that Albania would become the first, dared to write, in the magazine KLAN, that the murderers of the leader of "December '90" and MP Azem Hajdari were officers of the Tropoja Police Station, mentioning them by name and facing the consequences of another siege of the KLAN building.
I saw Ferdinand continue to publish in the media, regardless of their orientation, the scandals of the power of each government, suddenly receiving elbows and throws in the street from his colleagues connected to politics.
The last ones were the ones about the publications of the extortion scandal of the Navy's properties and the TIMS scandal, which is more recent.
So, in short, during the conversation with Adriatikun, I finally saw a political figure of the new generation, whose thoughts matched the efforts of my whole life to be useful to society, with the conviction that one day, even thanks to this modest contribution, Albania will become.
This is the explanation for sympathy and congruence of ideas.
Now let's come to the explanation about the union.
I said YES to a proposal to run in Tirana, under the slogan "Albania Becomes", for these reasons:
Firstly, because I don't see it as a desire, but as an obligation.
I see it as an obligation, even though I have no intention of giving up the profession of journalist. I think I have some shoulder pads for working in journalism and I don't want to lose them, because I have worked all my life, I have sacrificed, I have understood how Albanian society moves on stage - and the garbage of politics and crime behind the scenes, I have dared to tell the truth, no matter how dangerous it may have been.
But, absolutely, the decision to join "Albania Becomes" and run for office are related to the times we are living in.
Because, since 2013, we have had a Prime Minister in power who won the elections with the slogan "alliance with the devil just to defeat Berisha", joining forces and sharing power with crime.
Because, in 12 years, Albania has been robbed of so much that in global corruption indices it ranks worse than some African countries, where the state almost does not function.
Because, in 12 years, apart from the dizzying enrichment of the Renaissance people and crime, no development has occurred, except for the lipstick on the facades.
Because, our state, due to corruption and the wrong people who have led and continue to lead it, has rotted so much that it is unknown whether the few remaining living and healthy cells will be able to revive it once again.
Because, due to misgovernment, our society is completely losing its nerve and hope that one day, led by patriotic, visionary, and integrity-minded people, Albania can be.
Because theft and corruption in the system are the cause of the phenomenon of the massive departure of disappointed Albanians, who leave with the idea that "Albania is not done."
Because theft and corruption in the system are the cause of the catastrophe that is happening to the younger generations, to our children, to whom we are instilling as models, or idols, criminals with expensive cars and thieving politicians. To whom we are injecting the desire for quick enrichment, pushing them more and more every day to fill the ranks of drug distributors and traffickers across Europe...
Because, the main person responsible for this landscape of darkness, is seeking another 4-year mandate because "only he knows how to get Albania into Europe", despite the fact that he himself is of the opinion that "Albania will not be done" (he repeated it two days ago).
Because I am convinced that in these elections he will not make an alliance "even with the devil", but several times worse.
This is the projected thing we should expect during these elections from the man who cannabized Albania even though the ministers opposed it, who entangled the structures of the state with crime, who says that "others eat pears behind his back" but forgets that "the fish stinks from the head down", who, due to the silent thief inside him, has single-handedly led to prison a company of ministers, mayors and deputies of the Socialist Party, who has been caught in the act of stealing the elections in collaboration with criminals, to whom, recently, he has also appointed a Prime Minister of Crime.
Because he said that he "needs four more years in power" to sort out "his own affairs." To divide the remaining wealth and properties of Albanians and Albania into a few hands (the magnificent Laman beach in Himara and a Guard training facility in the middle of Tirana's Artificial Forest were the next gifts from the wealth his father left him).
Because, "it still takes a little while" to go to some miracle of changing the political system by declaring himself President, or King!
That he "needs a little more time" to eventually sell us all, along with geographical Albania, without asking anyone, just as he didn't ask anyone to extort the historic Port of Durres, or to auction off the only island, that of Sazan.
Because he is not the Prime Minister of the Albanians. Look him in the eye and tell me if you find anything that gives you hope...
Because I have made up my mind that we should not give that man another second of time and power.
Because I have a full and collected mind that Albania is on the brink of disaster.
Because I don't want Albania, which is on the edge of the abyss, to collapse and I don't join my hand, with others, to stop it.
I do not want to be part of a crime with historical consequences, because I believe that even those who understand what is happening, but do not intervene, are and will be just as guilty as those who are pushing Albania into the abyss.
And last but not least, I think that as a journalist I can do a lot, but as a journalist and politician I can contribute much more.
The first, "Albania will be done"!
