"I would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo", Majko reacts to the Serbian minister's statement: Her sincerity is a burden on the Belgrade government

Former Prime Minister of Albania, Pandeli Majko, has reacted after the statement of the Serbian Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, Snezhana Paunovic, who stated that, if she had had the same freedom of action as former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic, she would have "ethnically cleansed Kosovo" in 1998.

Through a reaction on social media, Majko stated that the Serbian minister's statement should not cause surprise, describing it as an indicator of the continuity of a political approach that, according to him, still exists in the structures of Serbian politics and the state.

"It is memories that define us! So no one should feel too 'surprised' by the statement of Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunovic," writes Majko.

According to him, such a public statement by a high-ranking official constitutes a burden for the Serbian government in its efforts for European integration.

"This public statement (by a minister) is, in fact, a 'weight' on the Serbian government which seeks European integration!", says the former prime minister.

The memory of a lost war makes peace frustrating! The Serbian minister has expressed with “sincerity” that collective will which, unfortunately, still exists within the structures of Serbian politics and the state!
The public sincerity of Minister Snezhana Paunovic is not only “courage”, but also a continuation of a policy of a man like Slobodan Milosevic, imprisoned in The Hague for war crimes!

… Today, in The Hague, the commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army are also being tried! If Slobodan Milosevic had done what he publicly wants, Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunovic, the accused would not have had to be tried today in The Hague! They would not be alive today!…

The consciousness of "guilt" for an "unfinished" crime in peacetime is just as serious as a crime committed in wartime!
