The son of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, has spoken to the Greek media where he reiterated that his father will be declared innocent.
Petro Beleri, in an interview with the Greek media "Open TV", said that the hearing for his father has been postponed and the Appeal hearing is expected to take place at a time when Edi Rama's party is governing "as he wishes" in Himare.
Among other things, he said that they no longer have hope for Albania, adding that his father will leave his cell in September.
"My father will be solemnly declared innocent", said Petro Beleri, as he also shared a message of freedom on behalf of his father, emphasizing the necessity of protecting democracy.
Regarding the upcoming European elections, Fredi Beler's son said that he has hope and that this is a good opportunity to protect democracy and his rights. We remember that his father is a New Democracy candidate.
Fredi Beleri was a candidate for mayor in Himarë in the local elections last year, but he was arrested on charges of corruption, after he tried to buy the votes of Himarë citizens with money.
We remind you that the ruling party in Greece has chosen Fredi Beleri among the candidates for the MEP, despite the fact that the latter is in prison in Albania for buying votes.
A while ago, his son speaking to the Greek media said that his father, if elected, will work hard to highlight the problems of the Greek minority.
"If we succeed and my father is elected, he will have an elected MEP who belongs to the European People's Party, who belongs to ND, in Greece, he is a member of the Greek ethnic minority, he will highlight these problems, which they exist in Albania, no matter how much someone tries to hide them", stated Petro Beleri.
