Begaj from Prishtina: Albania has the duty to be Kosovo's advocate
Begaj and Osmani

"We must listen to each other, but we must also listen to the international ones." This was the message that President Bajram Begaj gave during a joint press conference with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani in Pristina.

President Begaj is in Pristina where he participated in the international forum "Women, Peace and Security" organized by the head of state, Vjosa Osmani.

One day before the vote for its membership in the Council of Europe, Begaj said that Albania has a duty to be a very good advocate of Kosovo in the international arena.

"I wouldn't call the relations between the two states very good politically, as is the common name, but the relations are as they should be, extremely good and fraternal, we are two states, but we are one nation and we have the duty to we are close to each other in every moment, in good days and in bad days. It is important to work for our peoples, for their well-being and economic relations must be developed, agreements must be implemented as soon as possible.

In international relations, one of Albania's values is that our foreign policy is aligned with the European and Euro-Atlantic one. Being after a very successful mandate in the Security Council, protecting human values, of course Albania has a duty and will always do this duty, to be a good advocate for Kosovo, for new recognition and for membership in organizations international. I am hopeful that tomorrow we will have a successful vote in the Council of Europe. This will give us even more inspiration to do better work in the future. I want our cooperation to continue, to listen to each other and to listen to the internationals" , said Begaj.

On the other hand, President Osmani stated that the agreements between the two countries "are increasing in number, but also in quality."

"It is our duty to commit to implementing these agreements in practice," Osmani added.

President Osmani emphasized the vote that will take place the next day in the Council of Europe, in which she said that Kosovo deserved to be part of it since 2010. However, with the support of Albania, Osmani believes that there will be a positive result tomorrow for Kosovo's membership in this council.

"We had the support of Albania. Now that we are talking, the deputies of Albania and Kosovo are lobbying the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in the hope that tomorrow we will be successful in this vote together with President Begaj, Prime Minister Rama and all the Albanian representatives, we will make sure that Kosovo has the necessary support in this organization, where it has deserved to be since 2010 and since we received the necessary number of recognitions that constitute over 2/3 in the Council of Europe. The aim is full integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures and in this way we will follow the example of Albania and on a clear path towards the EU and we are convinced that this is the only way and all the reforms that the Republic of Kosovo is making are this way. Our two governments have signed a large number of agreements which are growing, I am committed to implementing these agreements in practice. Kosovo will always support Albania in advancing our common goals. In our meetings, every success of Kosovo is also Albania's, every success of Albania is also Kosovo's. Side by side in this alliance and brotherhood, united we will move forward towards success in the big European family" , said Osmani.
