It seems that a "cold war" has started in the official Democratic Party between the supporters of Lulzim Basha, who wants to take over the leadership of the party and the rest, most of whom are DP deputies.

The General Secretary of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi has gathered the parliamentary group today to oppose that part of the Presidency who demand the start of the election process for the head of the party, without convening the National Council. In a statement to the media, Bardhi stated unequivocally that he will not sign any decision that conflicts with the statute. He said that DP has institutions and all those who want coexistence within this political force must strictly implement the statute.

"I will not sign any decision that contradicts the DP statute. I will not give details of the implementation of the statute. I have not been informed of such a decision. Apparently, a certain group has decided to exercise the powers of the general secretary. They are within their right, just as the secretary general is within his right to strictly implement the statute.

It is clear, DP statute, this debate has been discussed for a year and a half. The party's electoral commission is appointed by the National Council. My only answer is that the general secretary of the DP is determined to implement the statute. Without statutes and rules there can be no coexistence. I have implemented the presidency's decision, I repeat, I respect every statutory obligation.

Lidhur me vendimin për shkarkimin e Saimir Korreshit nga posti i kreut të PD-së së degës së Lushnjës, Bardhi tha se nuk ka asnjë informacion se si është zëvendësuar deputeti demokrat.

I will not give details of the implementation of the statute. I am not aware of such a proposal. The organization of the PD is the responsibility of the general secretary. Apparently, a group has decided to exercise the powers of the General Secretary. I will implement the DP statute. Anyone else who has decided to move forward with anti-statutory proceedings makes their own choices. Without a statute and without rules, there can be no coexistence", said Bardhi.
