Lawyer Arben Llangozi has reacted harshly to the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj , accusing the latter of concealing assets, false declarations and abuse of state property.

In his Facebook post, Llangozi refers to Begaj's wealth declarations, which according to him contain contradictory data.

Specifically, the lawyer brought to attention a 107 m² apartment that Begaj stated he purchased for only 200,000 lek, while his parents had previously purchased it for 2,500,000 lek.

"In another part of the statement, President Begaj notes that he owns another residential apartment in Tirana, with an area of 107 square meters, which according to him his parents bought in 1999 for 2,500,000 lek. However, in the same document, Begaj states that this apartment "was sold to me for a symbolic price of 200,000 lek". This detail is pure evidence of a crime, as it is impossible for such a property, bought for millions of lek, to be sold for a ridiculous amount", he writes, while also bringing up another case where the president declared that he owns another apartment of 166m² and a 30 m² garage worth 95,000 euros, explaining that this property was "ordered by my brother in 2007" and then "registered in my name", that is, in the name of the president.

In addition to these cases, the lawyer also accuses Begaj of involvement in the military property affair in the Limion area of Saranda, where as former Chief of the General Staff, he allowed, according to him, the transfer of military lands into the hands of construction oligarchs.

Full post by lawyer Arben Llangozi:

President Bajram Begaj should be in prison, not in office/ He hid his wealth and made a false declaration, here's how he bought the 107 m² apartment for only 200,000 lek

Public anger is erupting on social media against the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, following the publication of his wealth declarations and suspected links to state property affairs. Citizens, analysts and public figures are urgently calling for his dismissal for conflict of interest, and discussions are being conducted according to political interests.

But no one has seen the truth. Beyond the moral and political debate, the facts presented in official documents show that a criminal investigation should have been initiated against Begaj long ago for concealing assets, making false statements, and he should be in prison, not president.

The famous lawyer reveals the FACTS: Begaj should have been in prison, how he

In the form submitted to the ILDKPI, Begaj declares that he owns an apartment in Tirana with an area of 166 square meters and a garage of 30 square meters, worth 95,000 euros. He explains that this property was “ordered by my brother in 2007” and then “registered in my name.”

This sentence raises serious doubts about the way assets are registered and the origin of funds, as the law requires every public official to declare the exact source of wealth and income that justifies it. Begaj's case seems typical of a formal maneuver to transfer an asset to the name of a high-ranking official, hiding the true owner and the real source of the money.

But this is not the only problematic asset. In another part of the statement, President Begaj notes that he owns another residential apartment in Tirana, with an area of 107 square meters, which according to him his parents bought in 1999 for 2,500,000 lek. However, in the same document, Begaj states that this apartment “was sold to me for a symbolic price of 200,000 lek”. This detail is pure evidence of a crime, as it is impossible for such an asset, purchased for millions of lek, to be sold for a ridiculous amount. This is an action that raises suspicions of concealing the real value of the asset and may constitute a false declaration according to the law “On the declaration and control of assets, financial obligations of elected officials and some public servants”.

Furthermore, Begaj has also been involved in the military property affair in the Limion area of Saranda, where as former chief of the Armed Forces he approved the transfer of a significant portion of military lands into the hands of construction oligarchs, making the military the weak party in a scheme that for many constitutes a pure abuse of office.

In any normal country in the world, a wealth declaration with such contradictions would be enough to launch an immediate investigation by the prosecution. But in Albania, Begaj continues to sit in the office of the President of the Republic, untouched by justice, while citizens face punishments every day for much smaller violations.

The case of Bajram Begaj is the clearest example of how the justice system in the country operates with double standards, soft and silent for high-ranking officials, but ruthless for ordinary citizens. And while institutions turn a blind eye, social networks are becoming the only platform for accountability, where citizens are loudly demanding not only his dismissal, but the arrest of a President who, according to them, has betrayed the public trust and the law.
