The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, supports the nationwide protest to be held on October 17 in Tirana against the protracted judicial process against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Speaking to the media from Pristina, Osmani demanded respect for human standards and freedoms for an impartial judicial process.
"I support this protest, I have supported every protest that calls for justice. Citizens and Albanians have not asked for anything other than justice. Justice that respects the highest principles of human rights protection. Kosovo and the leaders in The Hague, precisely because they believed in justice, have appeared before it, it has been five years without any doubt in international justice. We as Kosovo institutions constantly demand that the highest principles of human rights protection be respected, I give our citizens the right and I support them every time they protest to demand respect for these standards."
Osmani further stated that the KLA's war was just, emphasizing that this process must also distinguish between the aggressor and the victim.
“The KLA war was a just war for freedom, to protect the people and liberate Kosovo from the occupation that lasted for centuries, and a war that focused on protecting the doorsteps of innocent citizens, who were being killed and massacred by the Serbian army. For anyone who has seen the war, it is clear: there was only one aggressor, it was Serbia, and there was only one victim, it was Kosovo. The KLA defended the citizens of Kosovo with dignity, and we will defend the justice of this war until the end.”
The KLA veterans' organization expects that, just like in the first two protests held in Pristina and The Hague, there will be a large participation in the one in Tirana, not only of Albanians from Albania, but also those from Kosovo, Macedonia and Montenegro.
Two days ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama also posted on social media the invitation of the organizers of this rally, writing that thousands of people from all Albanian regions and the diaspora will gather in Skanderbeg Square on Friday, to demand justice for the liberators.
