TIRANA / KOPLIK / KRUJË - It was a clear message of awareness for the environment and pure nature, the cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and the State Police, with several high schools in the mountainous areas of Tirana, Malësë e Madhe and Krujë, which was crowned with success yesterday.

The significant result was several dozen trucks with plastic waste, bags, bottles and other materials, as well as with weeds, which were collected and removed these summer days by the high school students of these areas, in the territories near and inside the hash plots.

The students, in clothing suitable for the hot weather, with summer hats, sunglasses and t-shirts clearly reading the message "Fellow citizens, don't lean back" , worked for several days during the morning hours, under the guidance of police officers who directed them to the most problematic plots. In the end, the innocent plants and the surrounding area took on a completely different look.

"When we say that a clean environment is and remains a national emergency, we mean exactly this," said Minister Mirela Kumbaraja for our column, "30 years of irresponsible disposal of plastic waste in nature have brought us to this situation. Who would have thought that even in the beautiful Albanian highlands that are frequented before, there would be so much plastic?"

According to Kumbara, the students deserve a big thumbs up for this awareness and activation during the holiday season. A large number of eyes also helped by knowing the area well, since the hashish plots belonged to their families.

"I think that cleaning plots from weeds, watering plants and in this case, also removing plastic waste, should not be just a campaign, but done systematically," said the 4th year high school student. Hasho Shashaj" of Nikla, Amarildo Kacidhja, "it is a shame that the tourists who come to buy our hashish see this dirt".

The initiative made a great impression on public opinion, however, some recurrent problems of the tourist season remain current. Police officer Tao Bualli, responsible for public relations, told our column that the problem remains environmental pollution from mountain tourists, especially irresponsible local visitors, who continue to throw plastic bags and bottles, or tin cans, into nature when they come to they visit hash plots.
"We have taken some measures," Bualli said, "such as imposing fines on those caught polluting, as well as setting a limited number of visitors per plot, to avoid chaos."

On this occasion, Bualli announced the latest initiative, which is the prohibition of loud music in the highlands of Tirana, Kruja, Dukagjin, etc., after 11 o'clock at night.
