A serious incident has shocked Brazil, where a 21-year-old, Maria Eduarda Rodrigues de Freitas , lost her life during a bungee jumping activity after jumping from a bridge without being tied to a safety rope.

The incident occurred in Ponte do Esqueleto, in Limeira, in the interior of the state of São Paulo.

According to investigations, three employees involved in the activity, aged 27, 32 and 42, have been arrested and charged with manslaughter.

Footage recorded by a camera that was supposed to document the jump captured the tragic moment when the girl jumped from the bridge without any safety harness.

Immediately after the incident, witnesses are heard shouting "Rope!", but it was too late.

According to Brazilian police, the suspects have stated that they experienced a "mental blackout" at the time of the incident and do not remember how the fatal mistake occurred.

Investigators point out that at such an activity there should have been at least two security checks, but no ropes were set up.
